I have a new luxury full bust lingerie designer to introduce you to today. Katherine Hamilton launched late in 2016 with the aim ‘to incorporate the decadent details of French vintage lingerie into a line that served the modern woman and her active lifestyle’.
With just a small selection of bras currently available in sizes 24 – 26 D – HH, Katherine Hamilton is really focusing on the design aesthetics and comfort of the collections.
All the bras are made with a narrower wire than standard which aims to prevent under arm discomfort and chaffing that many fuller bust women complain of. I admit, at first I was skeptical on whether this would make any great difference but I do feel that this bra is incredibly comfortable. Women with narrow breast roots will likely adore this design.
In the photos, I’m wearing the Louise bra which is a three piece constructed cup with light padding. Don’t worry though, the padding shapes and smooths the breast tissue rather than adding any volume.
The Louise set, in it’s purest form, is a very simple subtle plunge bra but the strapping detail plays with bondage trends and adds a certain sexiness to the set. The pants, especially, are tantalisingly revealing with very little but the strapping at the sides.
I’m wearing a 34H in the bra and it is a near perfect fit. The central gore sits flush against my sternum and the cups are filled out without any over spill. The band is firm and supportive but the very fact that I’ve dropped to a 34 band shows it to cup up a little larger than some other fuller bust bands.
The strapping detail on the cups is a little slack on me but that is the shape of my own boobs – they are fuller at the bottom than with top and so can, sometimes, be too shallow for fixed strapping. It is not a noticeable slackness though.
I’m wearing the pants in a 14, opposed to my usual 18. 14 is the highest size Katherine Hamilton Intimates currently make but they do come up large and I believe there are plans to extend the size range in future productions.
The Louise set is a luxury purchase. As an independent designer the price for this bra will set you back £78 and the briefs £38. This is a fairly standard price for small independent designers who are not able to gain the same bulk order runs that lead to the lower prices of larger, more established, brands.
I have to say, I am really loving this set and can see myself getting a lot of wear out of it. I am very much looking forward to wearing it with a plunging top on a night out to show off the strapping – in fact, that would be a perfect look for coming Valentines (or Galentines) date nights!
